Acting Classes

GAP is happy to announce that it is offering an Adult Beginner Acting Class for ages 15 – 80+ years. All are welcome! There will no charge for the class, but goodwill offerings will be gratefully accepted. Class size is limited.
Where: All classes, except for one, will be held at the Glen Lake Church.
When: Classes will be held Saturdays, beginning May 13, from 10am to noon for six consecutive weeks.
Who: The instructor is our new senior director Mike Kelly. Mr. Kelly has a broad theatrical background spanning more than 50 years. He was founder and president of Theater North and has directed plays in more than a dozen venues in the Grand Traverse area.
Class Itinerary:
Week One: Stage Movement, Theater Language (to be held at Old Town Playhouse)
Week Two: Goals and Obstacles – Physical Action, Stage Business
Week Three: Acting with the other; Line Interpretation and Line Communication
Week Four: Beginning to Act/the Actor and the Production – Finding the Character
Week Five: Tactics: Playing Tactics, Mixing Tactics, Middle Ranges
Week Six: GOTE = Goal – Other – Tactics – Expectations
